29 Nov Keep your eye on the ball
I’ve really been lax…with my football metaphors. After all, there are few life lessons that can’t be taught through football*
Here’s one I use often: Don’t worry if your boss “likes” something or it makes him “happy.” Worry if it contributes to the core business goal – revenue, profit, attracting customers.
Otherwise, it’s like you’re a wide receiver going deep while watching your coach the whole time. You will NOT catch that ball and score.
If you keep your eye on the right thing, your boss will be happy – because you’re helping the team win (and making him look good).
*This does not apply to Bill Belichick or Tom Brady. (And this doesn’t count toward my 99 words)
